Ketamine
Back to Main Page

Ketamine was developed as an anaesthetic. It is commonly known as K, Ket, Special K, and Vitamin K and has strong hallucinogenic properties.  Ketamine has a similar chemical structure to PCP, therefore, has similar effects.  It can be found in liquid, powder or pill form.  Effects can range from feelings of euphoria to a complete sensory detachment (similar to a near death experience).

Ketamine is colourless and odourless. Because of its side effects it has been used as a “date rape” drug and can cause the victim to experience periods of amnesia and unconsciousness.

The effects of the drug can last a few hours and studies have found that it can remain in the body for up to 24 hours.
