When is it necessary to seek professional help?

The victim 

  • The child has tried several times to be assertive and nothing has worked 
  • The child is anxious and can no longer function normally 
  • The child's behaviour has changed: you're seeing a different person 
  • The child is sad, prefers to be alone and has negative or suicidal thoughts 

The bully 

  • The child is uncontrollable: authority is completely ignored 
  • Weapons are being used to threaten others 
  • Curfews are not respected 
  • The child is skipping school 
  • The child constantly lies 

Should you call the police? Yes, if the aggression is a criminal act:

  • Attack or assault 
  • Threat, racism, sexism 
  • Sexual harassment
