Data Source

• The congenital anomalies surveillance system tracks birth defects reported for newborns and infants during the first year of life. The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is the source of this data. The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit receives this data from the Public Health Branch of the Ministry of Health through its Health Planning System (HELPS) initiative.

Data Limitations

• All available data (1992 to 1994) is presented in the report.
• Data is only available at the census division level.
