Highlights
Life expectancy at birth has increased across all three of these jurisdictions and for both sexes as shown in the tables below – Canada, Ontario and Leeds Grenville and Lanark District (LGL). While life expectancy for both sexes is still lower for LGL compared to the provincial and national figures, the gap has diminished in this five year period. LGL made greater gains for both sexes relative to these other jurisdictions with the greatest percent change in life expectancy observed for males.

The overall gap in life expectancy for LGL compared to Canada fell from 0.7 years in 1997 to 0.3 years in 2001.
