Dental Services / Oral Health

 

Healthy Smiles Ontario

Healthy Smiles Ontario is a free dental program for eligible children and youth 17 years of age and under. This no-cost dental coverage includes:

 

  • Exams
  • Cleanings
  • Fillings
  • X-rays

 

  • Scaling
  • Fluoride
  • Sealants
  • Urgent or Emergency Treatment

 

(Braces, space maintainers and teeth whitening are not covered by this program).

Who is eligible?

  • Children 17 years of age and younger living in Ontario
  • Member of a household that meets the Income Eligibility Requirement , OR the child’s dental condition meets the “Emergency and Essential Services” criteria.

 

Emergency and Essential Services

  • Child has an urgent dental need such as pain, infection or visible decay
  • The cost of dental treatment would create a financial hardship
  • Eligibility for Emergency and Essential Services is determined by a participating HSO dentist or by a Registered Dental Hygienist at your local public health unit.  If you live in our area, please contact Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit @ 613-345-5685 or 1-800-660-5853 ext. 2200.

 

Children are automatically enrolled in the program if you or your child is currently receiving benefits through:

  • Ontario Works
  • Temporary Care Assistance
  • Ontario Disability Support Program
  • Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities
