Pause to Play Challenge

Pause to Play Did you know that less than half of all Canadians are active enough to receive health benefits? Here is a fun way to try being more active and eating healthy foods. Try the Pause to Play challenge - turn off your screens (TV, Computer, Video games, Movies) for one week and try replacing this time with physical activity and healthy eating. See if you can survive without screens.




Chronic Disease Prevention Program


The goal is to reduce the premature morbidity and mortality from preventable chronic diseases by focusing on risk factors such tobacco use, unhealthy eating and lack of physical activity.

Canadian Health Network

Funded by Health Canada, this comprehensive health information website covers health issues and topics from A - Z. It also has a good FAQ section organized by health topic. Bilingual.


Canadian Institute for Health Information

CIHI is a national, not-for-profit organizaiton whose role is to provide knowledge, research analyses, data, specialized research and strategies to its clients. The site reflects the work of the organization, offering information on current initiatives, objectives and the organization's structure and mandate. Bilingual.


Canadian Institutes of Health Research

Formerly the Medical Research Council of Canada, the CIHR was renamed and reborn in June 2000. It encompasses 13 individual institutes and is Canada's leading funding agency for health research. The website provides organizational information on the CIHR, as well as on each Institute. Extensive funding and grant sections will be of interest to researchers. Bilingual.


Canadian Medical Association

Cardiology Online

Designed for health care professionals, this website provides links to cardiology research, programs, conferences and resources around the world.


Cardiac Care Network of Ontario

An advisory body to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the CCN is "dedicated to improving quality, efficiency, access and equity in the delivery of cardiac services in the Canadian province of Ontario." Physicians will find information on cardiac centres, hospital waiting times for cardiac surgery and the cath-referral form amongst other information. A patient information booklet helps patients and their families understand the cardiac care system in Ontario.


College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

This site offers information of interest to health care professionals and lay people alike. Patients or members of the general public may search for a physician, benefit from one or several Fact Sheets, learn how to file a complaint about a physician or find further resources through a links section. Physicians may register online to become members of the College, learn about upcoming Continuing Medical Education courses or read past or present issues of the College's Dialogue magazine.
