Class 3
Back to all types of systems

A Class 3 sanitary sewage system (cesspool) may only be used for the treatment of sanitary sewage from a Class 1 System (privy) or effluent from a Class 1 System. The use of Class 3 systems is usually discouraged because the human body waste will quickly clog the soil particles, which will slow down the operation of the cesspool. For this reason, Class 3 Systems usually have a very short life and are not recommended unless all other possibilities for the treatment of sanitary sewage have been rejected.
