Background
Food Matters was established in 2009 in recognition of the need to provide a venue where community agencies and individuals can work on issues related to food security within Leeds, Grenville and surrounding area.
Vision
All people have access to safe, adequate and nutritious food that is obtained in ways that maintain dignity.
Mission
To create a sustainable and resilient community food system that is accessible to everyone.

- Incorporate community capacity building
Objectives
- To increase the supply, access and use of locally produced foods.
- Increase the knowledge and the level of practical skills in growing, preparation and storing of foods.
- To educate and advocate for food security related issues.
- To build a strong network of food producers and consumers, government agencies, and non-government agencies.
Membership
Membership currently include Leeds, Grenville &Lanark District Health Unit, Food for All food bank, Operation Harvest Sharing, Loaves and Fishes, House of Lazarus, King’s Kitchen, Ontario Works, Connections, Local Flavors, Brockville Climate Action Group and Rideau Valley Diabetes Services.
