Supplies & Safety
Back to
Planning for a New BabyInjury is a
leading cause of death among children. Parents must provide close
supervision for their children. Having age appropriate equipment
and supplies can prevent injuries by creating a safe environment.
One of the most important pieces of equipment
new parents will purchase is a car seat. As new parents, taking
the time to research which seat works best with your vehicle and
how to have it properly installed is a very important part of your
new responsibilities. Information on car seat safety and
installation can be obtained from the Health Units Health Action
Line at 1-800-660-5853 or through the
Babies & Children section of
this website.
Information on other equipment and supplies such
as cribs, mattresses, bumper pads, bedding, playpens, strollers,
walkers, baby gates and infant carries can also be accessed from
the Keeping Kids Safe portion of the site.
