  • Chills or fever over 38oC (100.40F)
  • You feel as if you have the flu and your breasts are sore
  • Severe headache or blurred vision
  • Dizzy or faint feeling
  • Bright red, heavy vaginal flow soaking more than one maxi-pad in less than two hours, or passing of clots larger than a loonie, or foul-smelling vaginal flow
  • Tender, reddened area on breast, not relieved by moist heat
  • Severe abdominal pain (different from normal afterpains)
  • Stitches open up, begin to drain, or become painful
  • Pain and/or difficulty passing urine
  • Redness or pain in calf of the leg
  • The baby blues (crying and feeling sad, irritable and frustrated) lasts for more than two weeks (Ref: Best Start - PPD)
