- Chills or fever over 38oC (100.40F)
- You feel as if you have the flu and your breasts are sore
- Severe headache or blurred vision
- Dizzy or faint feeling
- Bright red, heavy vaginal flow soaking more than one maxi-pad in less than two hours, or passing of clots larger than a loonie, or foul-smelling vaginal flow
- Tender, reddened area on breast, not relieved by moist heat
- Severe abdominal pain (different from normal afterpains)
- Stitches open up, begin to drain, or become painful
- Pain and/or difficulty passing urine
- Redness or pain in calf of the leg
- The baby blues (crying and feeling sad, irritable and frustrated) lasts for more than two weeks)
