What is infertility?
If you have been trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant for one year, you may be considered to be infertile. The diagnosis is not usually confirmed until there has been one full year of sexual relations with the same partner, without using any form of contraception. Contact your health care provider if you are not sure if you fit into this category.

The difficulty in getting pregnant may be due to problems on either the female or the male side. The issue should be discussed with your health care provider to begin to solve the problem. The Infertility Awareness Association of Canada is a resource to couples who may find themselves in this situation. They work to provide choices and access to treatment options for those with infertility concerns through awareness, support and education.
