Preconception/Pregnancy - Prenatal Classes

Preconception/Pregnancy

In-Person Prenatal Class

In-Person prenatal classes are led by Public Health Nurses and run once per week for 4 weeks.  Videos, activities, and interactive discussions are used to help you learn about topics including having a healthy pregnancy, breastfeeding, preparing for labour and delivery and caring for your newborn and yourself. Pregnant women are encouraged to bring a support person along so both can benefit from prenatal education.

We encourage you to register before the 20th week of pregnancy.

Classes are offered in the following locations: Almonte, Brockville, Carleton Place, Gananoque, Kemptville, Perth and Smiths Falls.

Young Parent Prenatal Class

The Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit has developed a new prenatal series to meet the needs of young expectant parents in our community. The prenatal series provides a non-judgemental, youth friendly and interactive learning environment for all participants to receive prenatal education. Classes are led by a Public Health Nurse and consist of videos, activities, peer support, demonstrations and discussion to learn about how to have a healthy pregnancy, labour & the birth experience, breastfeeding and how to care for your newborn and yourself. Pregnant women are encouraged to bring a support person or partner along so that both can benefit from prenatal education.

We encourage you to register before the 20th week of pregnancy.

Classes are currently being offered in partnership with Connections’ Good Foods for a Healthy Baby groups in Brockville, Prescott, Smiths Falls & Carleton Place.
