The following specified Reportable Disease, (Ontario Regulation 559/91 and
amendments under the
Health Protection and Promotion Act, 1990) is to be reported to
the Local Medical Office of Health.
Note: Diseases marked
and all respiratory infection outbreaks in institutions should be
reported
immediately to the Medical Officer of Health by telephone. Other diseases are to
be reported
the next working day.

Surveillance Case Definition: Haemophilus influenzae b
disease, invasive
Confirmed Case - Meningitis
Clinically compatible signs and symptoms of meningitis with isolation of
Haemophilus influenzae type b or detection of antigen from the CSF.
Confirmed Case - Epiglottitis
Clinically compatible signs and symptoms of epiglottitis with
(a)isolation of Haemophilus influenzae type b from the epiglottis or a
normally sterile site or
(b)detection of antigen in the urine.
Confirmed Case - Other Invasive Disease
Clinically compatible signs and symptoms of invasive disease with
isolation of Haemophilus influenzae type b from a normally sterile site. |
