If you have clients that are planning a trip outside of Canada they may require immunization from certain diseases outside of their regular immunization regimen. Depending on their destination, the luxury of travel is not without its own unique health risks. Often travelers limit their pre-travel preparation by focusing on itinerary, luggage and insurance only. In doing so, they fail to protect themselves from the risk of contracting serious diseases, not prevalent in Canada, including those spread by food, water and insects. Vaccinations play a critical role in travel health and are an effective way to prevent disease. Many vaccines provide long-term protection and can be administered well in advance of a scheduled trip.

The Health Unit will review clients current immunization records as well as their medical history, medications, allergies and other personal risk factors in order to customize an effective vaccination plan and travel health resource package that is right for them.
