Falls are a serious health and safety issue among older adults,
accounting for more than half of all injuries. The Health Unit delivered
interactive falls prevention presentations to 25 diners’ clubs in LG&L,
reaching 346 seniors in Spring 2004. Bookmarks with “12 tips to prevent
falls” and home safety
checklists were handed out to the participants to reinforce the message
that most injuries are predictable and preventable. The Health Unit
continues to provide presentations upon request.
