Land Control Program
Under the Ontario Building Code Act, the Health Unit has established written agreements with most municipalities allowing the Health Unit to provide services for the installation of private sewage disposal systems and other land uses.

This was a successful year for the program. The number of sewage permits issued was 18% greater than our projections for the year, a slight increase from 1998.

As of December 3, our service agreement with the Township of Rideau Lakes was terminated. The Municipality is now responsible for their own inspections and issuance of sewage permits. All service agreements with other municipalities remain unchanged.

During the year, the program was able to maintain its activity level without any increases in permit fees.
