Mouthguard Clinics
Help Children Keep Their Teeth Safe When
Participating in Sports
In the fall of 1999, dental
staff received many requests regarding
mouthguards. Mouthguard clinics were held at
the Brockville and Smiths Falls Health Unit
offices. Dental Assistants and Dental
Hygienists worked together to make and insert
approximately 20 mouthguards.
The cost per mouthguard was $25.00 which
allowed the dental team to raise approximately
$500. This money was put into the SAAINT fund
(a fund for Seniors, Adolescents and Adults in
Need of Treatment). This money is used for
people in the community who have the need for
emergency dental treatment, but who do not
have the money or dental benefits for
treatment.
