Workplace Health Programs - Working For Your Health
During 1999, a variety of workplace health initiatives were delivered in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark. In January and February, a Smoke-Free Works campaign was offered to 16 large industries. Ten industries used the Women & Tobacco and Tobacco Facts displays and handouts. The Health Unit’s Workplace and Reproductive Task Force hosted a Work and Pregnancy workshop with facilitators from two other health units. Twenty-two local participants received current resources and strategies to facilitate a healthy pregnancy outcome in the workplace.

From May to August, Summer Active ’99 promoted physical activity to all large work sites in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark. A pilot project was initiated at both 3M sites in Perth and Brockville. Active Living in the Workplace displays, materials and fitness breaks were provided.

In September and October, a breast health/ breast cancer awareness campaign was again offered to all 16 large work sites. Information materials, displays and presentations were provided.
