Lanark Youth Dental
Treatment Program
The Lanark Youth Dental
Treatment Program, funded by the National
Child Benefit Reinvestment Fund and carried
out by the Health Unit’s dental staff,
provided support for emergency dental
treatment for youth aged 14-19 years in Lanark
County.
Ninety-five students were screened by Health
Unit Dental Hygienists in high schools,
alternative learning centres, and other
community settings. Area dentists, high school
principals and teachers, and Health Unit
dental staff worked together to help 28 youth
receive dental treatment to alleviate pain and
restore function. Funding will continue for
this program for the year 2000.
