New
Health Unit Website
Get Connected!
It
all began back at the beginning of April 2000
when the Health Unit decided to hire a Website
Coordinator. One of the challenges of
developing the Website and Intranet sites was
the formatting/designing of the Health Status
2000 report which included approximately 1000
separate files. By June 2000, the Health
Unit's Website went online with the Health
Status 2000 report. This Report contained an
enormous amount of information on the health
status of the citizens of Leeds, Grenville and
Lanark counties. The web was a perfect vehicle
to use to publish this report and copies were
provided on CD-ROM for those without an
internet connection. When the Health Status
2000 report project moved to completion, the
planning continued for the Health Unit's main
Website. The navigation and structure was
developed and the content for the pages was
being compiled and formatted. By the end of
September, the Website was ready to go. It has
grown enormously to date and is constantly
being developed, updated and improved with
more information added daily. A Physician's
Resource section is presently being developed
and soon we will develop a Teacher's Resource
section. Along with these developments comes
the creation of a master public school
calendar for all of Leeds, Grenville and
Lanark which will be piloted internally then
posted externally for all to view near April
2002. This calendar, the first of it's kind
for the Health Unit and the schools, will
incorporate all programs and services
presently delivered into the school system for
reference and coordination. If there is
information regarding Health Unit programs and
services that you do not find on the site and
you believe that information would be
beneficial to you or others please email or
call us so that we can respond to your needs.
We want this to be your health information
site.
