Dental Program: Helping Kids Keep Healthy Smiles

Dental staff participated in Child Health Fairs throughout the three counties providing dental screening assessments for children and oral health advice to parents.

The Provincial Brushing Awareness Campaign, called “2 for 2” saw 400 children in the three counties brushing their teeth for 2 minutes on April 2. The goal of the campaign was to encourage children and parents to brush for two minutes, twice a day to prevent dental disease.

Dental staff provided oral health assessments to 5,297 children and referred 405 children with urgent dental needs for treatment.

264 children received dental treatment through the Children In Need of Treatment Program (CINOT).
