Cost of Healthy Food Increases

According to the 2005 Nutritious Food Basket survey, the average cost of feeding a family of four is $533.89 per month, compared to $460.67 per month just eight years ago. This is a substantial hike of $73.22 per month (16%) since the survey was first conducted in 1998. The Health Unit has a number of resources on food budgeting available to individuals and food security organizations and resources to help residents gain access to food.
