Three New Immunizations for Children Added this Year
Submitted by Margaret Hendriks, RN, BScN
Public Health Nurse Clinical Services Department
Three new vaccines have been added to the routine immunization schedule for children: chicken pox, meningococcal meningitis, and pneumococcal disease. These vaccines offer the best protection when given in the first two years of life, which is when a child is most susceptible to these illnesses. The vaccines are provided free of charge. For more information contact your health care provider, or call the Health Unit and ask for a public health nurse.
