Party Survival Program
Submitted by Julie Ingleby, RN, BScN
Public Health Nurse, Health Promotion Department
The Health Unit delivered the Party Survival Program to grade 11 students at three area High Schools in 2004. This program, implemented with the help of community partners, provides information around topics such as driving sober, alcohol poisoning, host liability risks and alcohol and pregnancy. The program focuses on the Smart Risk Messages: Look First, Wear the Gear, Get Trained, Drive Sober and Buckle Up. Students completed evaluations and ranked it an overall success. This interactive program is available to all high schools in the Tri-county region.
