ATV Injuries On The Rise
All terrain vehicle (ATV) injury hospitalizations increased by
50% over a 5-year period (1996/97-2000/01). 22% of persons injured in an ATV
incident were under 16 years old (Smart Risk, 2005). This rising trend of ATV
related injuries are cause for concern. As a result, the Eastern Region Injury
Network plans on responding to this issue in 2007.
