Racing Against Drugs
s ubmitted by
Carrie Kasurak, Public Health NurseOnce again, planning is under way for the next Racing Against Drugs program.
The event will be held the week of June 18-22, 2001 at the Brockville Memorial Centre. In April 2000, approximately 2500 students from our region attended this exciting program which was held at Rideau Regional in Smiths Falls. There was much enthusiasm, support and positive feedback from students, teachers and our community partners who attended or were part of the planning process. We are certain that that next year's event will be bigger and better.
Many of those community partners who provided "pit stops" for the 2000 event have already made requests to be included in the 2001 program. All schools in our region will again be invited to attend one of the two-hour sessions as part of the week long event. Anyone interested in learning more about this initiative, or has any suggestions for the program, please contact Denise Kall, Public Health Nurse, at Safe Communities 342-2917 or Carrie Kasurak, Public Health Nurse, Gananoque Branch Office (613) 382-4231.
