10 Years of Saving Lives through Early Detection

It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since the first Ontario Breast Screening program first opened. Since then over 300,000 women in Ontario have received screening mammograms at one of the sixty sites across the province.

In addition to a screening mammogram when a woman attends the OBSP she receives:

  • A clinical breast exam by a specially trained nurse
  • Instruction in breast self examination
  • Automatic recall to the program every two years

The results of the examination are mailed to both the woman and her doctor. Brockville General Hospital is proud to be an affiliate site in April. Women attending this program are very impressed with the thorough examination and caring attention they received from the staff.

The Ontario Breast Screening Program encourages you if you are 50 years of age and over to call 613-345-8304 to make your appointment.
