Sun Safety on the Golf Course
Golfing is a great outdoor activity, but anyone who spends extended hours in the sun needs to think about sun protection.

Enjoy your golf game, but protect yourself by following these simple sun protection tips:
  • Reduce sun exposure – especially between 11 am – 4 pm when the sun’s UV radiation is the strongest. Plan your golf game early in the morning or later in the day if possible.
  • Cover up – Wear a large brimmed hat (7.5cm/3inch brim) to protect your head, ears, nose, and neck. Hats with a back flap are also recommended. Clothing such as a long-sleeved shirt and long pants should also be worn.
  • Slop on Sunscreen – Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher to skin that will be exposed to the sun. Also, don’t forget to protect your lips with a lip balm that contains sunscreen.
  • Slide on Sunglasses – protect your eyesight with sunglasses that block both UVA and UVB rays.
  • Familiarize yourself with the UV index and protect yourself accordingly
