Spot Check Your Moles
Remember…if found early enough, most skin cancers can be treated and cured.
Consult your health care provider immediately if you notice that a mole has one or more of the following features:
Asymmetry Asymmetry
One half unlike the other half
Irregular shape, tail, or jagged edge
Change in surface texture (scales or oozing)
A sore that won’t heal, scab that repeatedly comes off, bleeds or becomes ‘velvety’
Border irregularity Border irregularity
Scalloped or poorly circumscribed border
Colour varied Colour varied from one area to another
Shades of tan and brown, black, and sometimes white, red or blue
Diameter Diameter
Larger than 6 mm (top of a pencil eraser)
